PD C.A.R.E.S Fund, Community, Aid, Relief, Emergency, Survival. Pippi & Daniel's desire to assist others in our communiyity in a time of need like they were assisted. Delivering musical entertainment with a dash of fundraising, a fifth Concert in the Yard is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, on North Kellogg Street, with a theme of "You Got This" !
Proceeds from the fifth concert in this series will benefit community members who are facing a pressing need for assistance with delinquent utilities or past due rent/mortgage payments to help prevent eviction. The program is designed to support community members when other agencies cannot during the COVID-19 crisis.
The event is the idea of longtime local attorney Bill Butts in collaboration with Pippi and Daniel Music, whose desire is to support local organizations in need of emergency funding.
"We have many people in our community who are facing economic challenges," Daniel Leahy said. "Some earn more revenue than that determined by the well known assistance programs, therefore not meeting the criteria of poverty guidelines.
We are asking Galesburg's community to donate what we can to assist, and help impact the health of these community members."
The concert, set for 3 p.m. Sunday in the driveway of Butts’ home at 1233 N. Kellogg St., presents composer, pianist and vocalist Daniel Leahy, vocalist and composer Pippi Ardennia, drums Manuel Lopez III, with special guest artist trumpeter David Hoffman, trumpeter Edgar Crockett and bassist Mike Nellas.
This group of entertainers will play original compositions by Leahy and Ardennia as well as well as favorite jazz standards.
Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs. Food will be available from Smokin’ Willies BBQ.
